the city of pleasantville<\/a> owns and operates a wastewater<\/a> treatment facility utilizing aerated lagoons. the facility was issued a new npdes discharge permit that included reduced ammonia\u00a0and e. coli limits. a review of performance information indicated process\u00a0improvements and the addition of disinfection facilities would be needed to achieve npdes permit compliance. the performance review also indicated that the hydraulic design of any improvements would need to increase the plant’s capacity to accommodate increased influent flow observed in recent years.<\/p>\n snyder & associates worked with city staff to develop a facility plan report evaluating a variety of plant improvement processes that would meet new effluent limits. the results concluded that construction of a sequencing batch reactor (sbr) treatment system followed by ultraviolet disinfection was the preferred alternative. other recommended improvements included modifying the existing lagoons to flow equalization basins and construction of plant headworks with fine screening and grit removal. screening and grit removal is housed in a new, precast concrete building which also includes a laboratory, restroom, and electrical room. the new treatment plant also included installation of an emergency power diesel generator.<\/p>\n the new sbr treatment system was designed to meet anticipated future nitrogen and phosphorus limits. the project is currently under construction with startup expected in late 2018.\u00a0the project was funded using srf financing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" sbr treatment system & uv disinfection for npdes compliance the city of pleasantville owns and operates a wastewater treatment facility utilizing aerated lagoons. the facility was issued a new npdes discharge permit that included reduced ammonia\u00a0and e. coli limits. a review of performance information indicated process\u00a0improvements and the addition of disinfection facilities would be needed […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":7660,"template":"","categories":[30],"project_categories":[54],"client_type":[58],"location":[76],"class_list":["post-3841","snyder-projects","type-snyder-projects","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-water","project_categories-wastewater","client_type-municipal","location-ankeny"],"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\n\t\t\n
